Being Food, Being Earth

Recorded at Insight Meditation Satsang

DESCRIPTION

There will be a lot of emergencies over the next season. But as much as I can, I’m going to proceed with our study plan rather than defaulting to reacting to the political situation. So tonight we’ll talk about…

Food!

Of course what we eat is a direct condition on how we feel, so we are continuing with the basic requisites of a healthy body and a mind that can settle in meditation more easily.

We’ll talk about food in relation to nutrition, timing, maybe culture (certainly cultured foods!), and certainly as an aspect of a general teaching about consumption that can be broaden to include media and many other things we take in.

The heart of the teachings on food is that we are made of it, we are it, and food is earth, of course, so we are earth. What we eat, how we eat it, when we eat, and how we think about nourishment all play a part in bringing together the conditions for well-being.
