How Discussing the Dharma is Honoring the Great Mother

DESCRIPTION

Because wisdom gives birth to Buddhas, Prajñāpāramitā, the Perfection of Wisdom, is the Mother of All Buddhas.

Therefore, honoring Prajñāpāramitā by teaching, discussing, and spreading wisdom is a form of honoring your great(x) grandmother—our deepest Dharma ancestor. Chapter 12 of the P of W in 8000 Lines starts with this analogy, assuming that we know what it feels like to honor and venerate our own mothers for the awesome gift they’ve given us and the hard work they suffered to raise us.

Tonight we’ll look at Dharma practice as devotion to the divine feminine, and explore some of the questions that have arisen as we’ve been coursing in these bodhisattva teachings.
